| Hello, welcome to my webpage about Venice. Venice is the capital of Italy and is a city that is slowly sinking under the ocean. The reason I am doing this topic is because it is my favorite city in the world. The way people in Venice get around is not by car, but by gondalas which is a type of boat since there roads are baisicly water. |

| San Marco Square - Piazza San Marco is the main square of Venice surrounded by chic sidewalk cafes and fancy shops. While it's a great place to enjoy the scenery and people, you will definitely pay top price to sit at an outdoor table. In the evening, you can listen to live music, too. Walking in the piazza and taking photos is, of course, free. |

Another place to visit is the Grand Canal - Canal Grande is the main thoroughfare of Venice. It's full of all kinds of boats and lined with beautiful buildings. |

| • Doge's Palace - Palazzo Ducale, also on St. Mark's Square, is the most impressive building in Venice and well worth a tour. It was the political and judicial hub of Venetian government until the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797. The palace was connected to its prisons by the famous "Bridge of Sighs." |

| Venice should be visited for a number of reasons. First off it is sinking. Since it was first built it has been sinking into the water slowly and will soon be gone forever. Venice should also be visited because it has beautiful buildings and great canale rides. In order to get around the city you have to ride a gondal which is a very fun thing to do. |

Venice is one of the best places to go on a vacation is another reason. When you go to venice there is non stop attractions as you can see in the Attractions page. When you go you can crash at a 5-star hotel after wandering around aimlessly looking at the beautiful scenery. |

| What Venice lacks in culinary diversity, it makes up for in quality. Chinese and Indian restaurants have a token presence, but really, Venice is a place to go for excellent seafood and good Northern italian cooking. Once the crowded capital of the Adriatic, the city's population has been in decline for centuries. The local food industry is the product of ongoing local efforts, some of which are reviving, but still a minority among the flood of the tourist-driven restaurants. The transient population of Venice numbers in the millions every year, and are to credit for the thriving of the city's best restaurants. Cichetti, the city's traditional tapas-like bar snacks, are regaining in popularity, but many local culinary craftsmen have gone out of business in the past few years, including most of the fresh pasta makers. |

There are other marvelous Venetian specialties like Zuppa rustica di carciofi e patate (Cipriani's artichoke and potato soup) or Pasta e fagioli alla Veneta (Red bean soup with pasta, Venetian style). Pasta dishes naturally include tagliatelle nere con ragu di capesante, vongole veraci e asparagi (Home-made black noodles, with a scallop, clam and asparagus sauce) and no self-respecting Venetian menu would be complete without Fegato di vitello alla veneziana con crostoni di polenta bianca (sliced calf's liver, saut?ed with onions, served with grilled white polenta). The classic Cipriani chocolate dessert is topped with a tiny chocolate gondola that leaves no doubt as to your location. |

| Another main dish that everyone loves is Pizza. Venice is kown for alot of fancy dishes but what is better than the everpresent Pizza. You can find it almost everywhere in every reastraunt and its a great fast thing to eat. |
